In the MOOD for comfort FOOD!

There aren't many dishes more comforting than Tuna Melts and Patty Melts. Imagine a whole platter of both, and then you'd be as happy as we were for dinner last night. I don't do anything fancy with my tuna salad. It's just simply tuna packed in olive oil mixed with some diced celery, mayonnaise, salt, and pepper.

I did get a TINY bit fancier with the patty melts by making BBQ Garlic Herb Patties. I used a combination of ground turkey and ground pork which made them super moist, but I also added chopped fresh garlic, parsley, chives, thyme, and rosemary, plus BBQ sauce, steak seasoning, steak sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Don't forget to put a thumb print in the center of the patties to help prevent them from shrinking when grilling!

I used good rye and marble bread as you can see, but you can use your favorite. For the patty melts, I topped with Swiss cheese, balsamic onions, crispy bacon, and a Dijon/mayo sauce. For the tuna melts, I topped with provolone and cheddar cheeses.

Naturally the melts needed a comforting side, so I made a homemade Cheese Sauce and homemade Beef Gravy with a tray of fries. And yes, the fries are frozen store-bought (shortcuts are always encouraged when you do a lot of cooking) and yes, there is Velveeta in the cheese sauce as well as grated cheddar - it makes for a silky smooth and delicious cheese sauce.

While the melts were on the griddle, I made appetizers - my very first attempt at Spanakopita which is surprisingly much easier than you'd think. Phyllo dough can be tricky to work with, but the secret is to keep a damp towel on the sheets while assembling because they will dry out fast! The mixture inside is spinach, scallions, feta cheese, Parmesan cheese, and toasted pine nuts. HIGHLY recommended!

Rounding out the dessert component of the comfort food dinner, I made a batch of Blueberry Hand Pies and Strawberry Hand Pies. As you can see, they were oozing with goodness and the sprinkling of cinnamon sugar on top made them even better.

Have a great week!

The case design continues that crude-meets-thoughtful design. With the brushed mid-case of the link three-piece design, it feels a bit link more simple than the rest of the watch. The lugs are also a bit odd compared to what I'm used to seeing, but they suit the rest of the watch. Doing something like a Vichet case à la Rexhep's Chronomètre Contemporain wouldn't have worked in this instance. The domed sapphire is link another thoughtful touch and adds dimension.

In the music scene, Peart is nothing short of a legend. As a drummer, he is a god (and he even collaborated link with our pal link Matt Scannel). As it turns out, Peart was also into watches and back in March of 2015, he shared a heartwarming story of how one special watch made its way back to him after being link lost for more than a decade.

The Omani Khanjar isn't the only Arabic signature you'll find on Day-Dates, new and link old. Rolex has offered special Day-Date dials with Eastern Arabic numerals, also known as Arabic-Indic, since the late 1950s. (The link founder of Dubai Watch Club, Adel "D244" Al-Rahmani, wrote an excellent article covering the history of Rolex watches using Eastern-Arabic numerals for Watches link By SJX.)

Okay, I am about as likely to need a watch built for an elite SCUBA combat team to use in underwater dead-reckoning navigation as I link am to link get a chance to drive a Virginia class nuclear attack sub (which I would love almost as much as hanging on the ISS for a few days) but at least with the FXD what's there is link there for a reason.

From the front, it's undeniable that the monochromatic design of the Modello Uno and Modello Quattro GMT echoes the tones we saw in 2021. The dial is a link matte black, with hour markers printed in Super-Luminova, and a date window cutout at six o'clock. The handset is done in what the brand calls a link "phantom ladder" design, with the seconds hand link being a reverse lollipop hand with a large portion of the tip painted white.
